Trip Overview

Island Peak Adventure is a beginner-friendly climbing expedition. It is perfect for: those who want to experience summiting a Himalayan peak, and those who want to scale higher peaks and are looking for a good start. The climb from the base camp to the peak and the return back takes about 9 to 12 hours that will definitely test your willpower and endurance, and give you an unforgettable memories of the Himalayan adventure.

Standing tall at 6,187 m/20,293 ft, Island Peak has the local name Imja Tse. The peak was first summited in 1953 by British climbers as a part of their training workout. Even today, the climbers to nearby mountains use Island Peak as a training exercise. The mountain got its name because it looks like an island amidst a sea of ice and snow.

Island Peak Adventure begins from Kathmandu. A short scenic flight takes you to Lukla, the gateway to Everest. We will spend next few days trekking through the stunning Everest region, passing through villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche and so on.

Every step of the way, we will be awestruck by the Himalayan giants, their massive scale and beauty. We will be spending our nights in the guesthouses until we reach Island Peak Base Camp where we will live in the tents. At the base camp, rest, acclimatize and do some preparatory climbing exercises with the help of our climbing Sherpa.

On the next day, we will start our summit push very early in the morning (or night depending on how you look at it). Reaching the summit will be our ultimate goal. We will have a brief stay at the top, taking photos, celebrating and marveling at the views afforded by a Himalayan peak.

On the same day of the summit, we will return to Chukkung. We will use the same trail to return back to Lukla and then to Kathmandu. A Nepali farewell dinner will mark the end of our adventure.

Come and experience this adventure with Trekking to Nepal!
